The News on this noticeboard will often be exactly the same as on the newsletters that are given out in lessons. It is also possible, however, that an event might only be announced verbally in just one lesson. I will make every effort to make sure that all the news is put on this page.
Each line break on this page will be followed by a date underneath it. This date signifies either the date that the news was put onto the page or when the news was given out in class.
NOTICEBOARD TEMPORARILY NOT IN USE
Please send any queries to the club instructor, Sensei Bryan Gideon. The Noticeboard should be back in use by mid-June. Sorry for any inconvenience.
July Training
As the table shows further down on the noticeboard we are unable to train at Backwell Parish Hall on all Fridays and Sundays during the month of July. Because of this, different venues have been found for training over the next month. Fridays lesson will be held at Cleeve Village Hall (the same place as Tuesdays) and Sunday training will be held at Backwell Leisure Centre. Training times will be the same as always.
Training Cancelled
Training will be cancelled on Sunday 13th June. Everything will be back to normal after this date but we are still looking for more people to train on a Sunday to keep it running regularly. If you can make it then please think about coming to an extra lesson a week.
Black Belt Success!
After coming third in the intermediate kata at the Central regions whilst at university Tom Culverhouse has now passed his black belt grading! Well done to Tom from all the club! We knew you were black belt standard before and now you have the piece of paper to prove it!
New Hall and Day
As of Tuesday 11th May we will be moving the wednesday lesson to Tuesday. The lesson will now be held at Cleeve Village Hall. If you need directions then please ask someone at the club.

April Kyu Grading
I have been sent information from Imperial Karate Club about a training and kyu grading at St. Bernadettes School, Whitchurch. Both the training and grading will be taken by Sensei Bob Poynton, 6th dan. The day is open to all clubs who can get there. For more information email us or Sensei Martin Skidmore, instructor of Imperial Karate Club.
Congratulations to Backwell's trophy winner!
A quick congratulations to Tom Culverhouse from everyone at Backwell SKC. Tom is currently at university and whilst there took part in the Central region championships. He came third in Intermediate kata. Well done, Tom.

Kyu Grading
I would like to remind those of you wanting to take a kyu grading (below black belts) that there will be one coming up fairly soon. If you train regularly (the KUGB say at least twice a week) and diligently between now and the grading then you could be allowed to take the grading. Those of you worrying about not being good enough, there is all the more reason to train regularly and get your confidence back! Any details of the forthcoming grading will be released to you when they are confirmed.
